These posts are meant to showcase the work of my students from Escena. I am not the creator of these pieces. I only served as one of several guides as these amazing artists started putting into practice what they'd learned during their first years of art school.
Starting on the heels of Beyond Space came Escena Animation School's first students to attempt a 2D animated short film: 3AM. Conceived and directed by Diego Salas and produced by Dana Ortega, 3AM is a horror short film about two sisters with wildly different reactions towards the lethal danger lurking in grandma's closet.
I'd never had the chance with working with Dana and Diego before this project, but I loved seeing them grow so much with it, as they cleared not only the challenge of making it through the gruelling gauntlet of producing a flm of your own, but also the difficulties of having to do so with a pandemic rearranging their entire production plan just as they were getting the hang of things.
