These posts are meant to showcase the work of my students from Escena. I am not the creator of these pieces. I only served as one of several guides as these amazing artists started putting into practice what they'd learned during their first years of art school.
I want to start making us of Artstation's Blog space to showcase some the work done by my final year students at Escena Animation School, starting out with the first fully finished short film to come out of the school: Grizzly Man & Turnip, directed by Eduardo Gala and produced by Gloria Padilla and Ilse Loop. It's about Dave and Katana, two young siblings who live with their mother in Villa Cocoa City, drawing parallels between their everyday lives and the spectacular conflicts faced by their favorite superheroes from the TV show "Grizzly Man & Turnip".
I was still figuring out a way to to teach the class that made sense from an educational and also from an efficiency standpoint, so unfortunately for this project's creators they ended up being guinea pigs as we worked through A LOT of issues with my process. I really hope they can forgive me for all those growing pains as the class took shape. For my part, I'm terribly proud of the work they did and the resilience they showed in getting it to the finish line.
